About Time For Tease
Time For Tease puts on events that combine the refinement of British afternoon tea with the wit and glamour of burlesque and cabaret.
It all began with Afternoon Tease! at Volupté in London's Chancery Lane. A perfect venue for Time For Tease to go and play: Volupté is a burlesque cabaret lounge and supper club. From its launch in June 2006, Afternoon Tease! was fully booked and continues to go from strength to strength.
Afternoon Tease! is like tea at the Ritz, only more intimate, and instead of a pianist there are cabaret perfomers and beautiful burlesque artistes as well as the lovely and unique Time For Tease Gateaux Vivants - static nude tableaux that feature some strategically placed cake!
Afternoon Tease! is now one of the UK's longest running and most famous burlesque events and remains the original and best teatime revue of its kind.
If you'd like to come and experience Afternoon Tease! for yourself, it happens on the first and third Saturday of the month and on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at Volupté. Full afternoon tea: dainty sandwiches, warm homemade scones with preserves and clotted cream plus homemade cakes (if you still have room) as well as the burlesque show and a glass of fizz is £42 per person.
Afternoon Tease! is a favourite with celebrities - so you'll be in great company. Queen's Roger Taylor attended the Alice in Wonderland themed version and liked it so much that the Gateaux Vivants were asked to pose at Queen's recent 40th birthday celebrations. Kate Moss was also delighted at her birthday party with glam rock themed cupcakes and burlesque fan dance.
Time For Tease have been fed cake by Heston Blumenthal for his Channel 4 series and entertained revellers at the BRIT Awards aftershow party in 2010. But perhaps their biggest hurrah is at Bestival on the Isle of Wight, where they've had their own fabulous afternoon tea tent since 2007 and entertain over 5,000 people every year. If you're planning on going in 2012 make sure you stop by - it's a festival highlight!
